What is videoconference signature?

A Videoconference signature is a system that allows citizens to sign certain notarial documents electronically, after electronic identification and a direct videoconference with the Notary, who guarantees the legality, understanding, and will of the parties, just as in an in-person session.

At our Notary Office in Barcelona at Vía Augusta 4, we offer the videoconference signature service, a tool that allows you to authorize certain notarial documents without having to go to the Notary Office in person, thanks to the use of the citizen's notary portal and a secure videoconference with the Notary.

Which notarial documents can be signed online?

Currently, the following documents can be authorized via videoconference:

  • Commercial policies.
  • Certain corporate acts such as the constitution of a company or the appointment of an administrator (consult the individual cases).
  • Special powers of attorney and powers of attorney for litigation.
  • Revocation of powers of attorney.
  • Mortgage cancellations.
  • Acts of general meetings and statements.
  • Affidavits of authenticity of signatures.
  • Wills in a declared epidemic situation while the lockdown obligation lasts.
  • Declarations of new construction and divisions of condominium property.
  • Conciliation, unless the notary deems physical presence appropriate for the successful completion of the proceedings.

Requirements for using this service

To use videoconference signing, you must:

  • Be registered in the Citizen Notarial Portal.
    You can do so at https://www.portalnotarial.es.
  • Have a valid digital certificate or electronic identification system (DNIe, Cl@ve, FNMT certificate, etc.).
  • Have a device with a camera, microphone, and internet connection.
  • Request an appointment and provide the necessary information and documentation before the signing date.

How does the videoconference signing process work?

  • Prior contact with the Notary:You can call or write to us to assess your case and ensure that the document is suitable for this system.
  • Document preparation:We gather the information and prepare the notarial deed, as with any other legal document.
  • Videoconference appointment:Access the Citizen Notary Portal with your credentials and connect to the videoconference with the Notary Public at the agreed date and time.
  • Electronic signature of the document:After confirming your identity and wishes, you will digitally sign the document. The Notary Public authorizes it, and it is recorded in the notarial protocol.
  • Delivery of the copy:You will receive the authorized copy in electronic or physical format, according to your preference.
